Dr. Munukutla holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Iowa. Positions held prior to joining the Center include research engineer for the Energy Research Center at Lehigh University and senior research scientist at the AVCO Everett Research Laboratories in Everett, Massachusetts. While at Lehigh, he worked on several research projects with many utilities in the northeastern region, including several aspects of thermal storage and power plant performance monitoring and analysis. He also worked on the simulation of power plants and the assessment of turbine exhaust hood losses for efficient performance. At Tennessee Tech, he has been working with several utilities on the development of real-time power plant performance software, new technologies for coal air balancing and turbulence management in industrial processes.
